A crying shame after he spent two years restoring it, could have bought it then for $10,000
Quote:
1972 Datsun 1200 race car project.
Was a SCCA GTL car until it punted a Miata into the next county at a regionals event.
Needs some TLC and assembly.
Super stout cage prevented the car from being a total write-off, i.e., doors still open normally.
No engine or transmission.
Lots of bits included to make it a runner again. (see pics)
Along with fibreglass front fenders and a NOS 'glass bumper/airdam, there is a set of 1200 struts with a coil-over conversion, Tokico adjustable inserts and Ground Control camber tops to make things whole again.
MSD 6AL still mounted on dash.
Flared fibreglass quarter panels.
Plastic 1/4 windows and back glass.
Stock H145 rear end with a 3.90 welded differential and anti-sway bar.
A clever lad with a plasma cutter and a TIG welder could fabricate a modern tube/coilover/R&P front end, drop in a modern drivetrain and go NASA.
The included front clip could be used to make an old-school vintage race car with VARA, SVRA, VSCCA, CSRG, HSR or any of the like. (included SCCA logs go back to 1979)
LeMons or ChumpCar cognoscenti will find the buy-in price quite inviting.
Here's a link to what the car used to be and in that link is a link to the original build-up: (warning: Bring a Kleenex)
