yeah well really 140mm of ride hide will be plenty and planning to run 15in wheels atleast so that shouldnt be to hard to get i dont think and yeah i would really like to do irs setup but just worried bout running out of time to have it finished but hey might just send the axles off to be shortened and resplinned anyway just incase as that will take 4 weeks itself

and yeah really i want the castor rods and lower control arms adjustable as it is as im wanting in the range of 2 deg and 5 deg neg camber for different events and i want a lil bit of toe in

the inserts and spring rates really wouldnt be too bad i think as i have the weight of the sr20 and gearbox out of silvia anyway so there wouldnt be much difference in weight

Try below link if you want to see the 'Sick Fish' Cuda that was built by american customising shop 'Rad Rides by Troy'. This car was built for Joe Rogan from the Fear Factor show (among other TV shows).

This car is also featured in one of the 'Rides' shows which I think is on Foxtel...but I bought the show in DVD format from JB Hi-Fi.

Good luck with your build.

cant really see from the pics but just looks like a basic 4 link kit of got a spare one sitting here that was going to go into a customers project but instead we just used a rear suspension from a sedan in it to remove its utes factory leaf suspension

you'll still be a couple of hundred kgs under the silvia weight, and most coilovers are set for a pretty firm ride.

for example in a 1200 you'd probably want around 300lb springs for a track car, probably need someone that has actually done a bit of suspension work to confirm that, whereas most spring rates ive seen run in silvias and the like are more around the 600-700lb mark im pretty sure

but i guess you can always give it a go and see

140mm ride height measured from? if its the sills then thats pretty low. and i'd assume you are going to do a lot of guard chopping
my 1200 sits at about 170mm sill height and thats a 195 50 15 just on the front guard height and the rear is tucking about half the tire

also the sedans have a nice inner guard that really limits how low you can go without the outer sidewall of the tire scrubbing out, and requires the rear door to pretty much not be functional to get that room back
or for the rear track or tires to be rather narrow

140mm ride height no not from sill from lowest part of the car

well rear door handles have alreay been shaven ;) and the front inner gaurd that goes into the cabin will recieve a touch up soon as i get the boys to blast it this week and yeah the gaurds will recieve a lil bit of widening

and the rear i dare say it will recieve new tubs while doing the rear suspension i hate working with old metal rather just cut it out n start again

guessing that 140mm doesnt include the exhaust.

the footwell at the front isnt really an issue if you have adjustable castor rods, just pull the wheels forward for lots of castor and the wheels clear easy. its the bottom of the guard in front of the wheel that is then an issue. becomes an issue as soon as you start running any decent width tires

the issue with the rear is that the recess for the rear door goes into the rear wheel well, so you lose about 20mm of guard room once the rear gets low

Hi Mate

Sorry about that. Below are a couple of links that might help. It is hard to get pics to show you. I watched the build on a DVD.

Weld a crossmember up, cut the tunnel and weld in a new one, don't upgrade the turbo for a hillclimb car, 280kw will see you into a tree in hill climbs. Where abouts are you planning on racing anyway, what track? or planning on traveling for hillclimbing?

Coilovers are good but probably way too stiff, they would probably be 8kg+ when you want maybe 5kg for a stiff setup.

As for rear suspension, s13 gear is way too wide to get the camber right, you may be able to use mx5 stuff, unless you want like -15 camber. A well set up live axle is just as good as a bodgy irs rear.
