Hey Team_Dat, I didn't say "get lost" ... in fact I've recently participated in some great discussions about B210s. And certainly B210 owners have contributed a lot to this site, especially lately.

And yes, I semi-regularly visit the Datsun210 club and have read a large portion of the topics there ...

The site the Brancos host is such a great site, it is the ultimate place for a-series engines and B10/B110 and maybe even B310. Although I have learned a lot about engines at the 210 club that wasn't discussed here at the 1200 club.

Maybe it makes more sense to officially 'welcome' the B210s and B310s -- as we did in the past for B10s -- so there is only one place we need to keep up with. Just wondering what everybody else thought about it.

I am in no way trying to rag on anyone.
we have all strayed off topic now and then, and I don't expect that it will stop in the future. all I was trying to say is that comming across with attitude just creates problems in the long run.
personally, I like to see the discussion and inclusion of all the models that shared the A series engine, the interchangability between them is great. more to the point, as one of those who was fortunite to be able to own a 1200 when they were new, it's nice to see the following that they have.
the B210/120Y was kind of the ugly stepchild of the bunch (at least the USA version was) and it didn't gain the popularity in later life that the other "Sunny" based models have, but it is still one of the family.
the one thing that they all have in common is that they are tough durable cars that never have been given the respect that they deserve.
we all share a common interest here, we shouldn't let stupid stuff get in the way and ruin a good thing.

Although this site is called Datsun1200.com I'm sure everybody who owns a 1200 is interested in other Datsun's.
On this site I've spoken about my 1200's, my 1000 Sports Sedan (now owned by Stevo) and have not even mentioned my FJ20det 120y coupe that I have.
Who cares, we all know what we like.

Go the Dato.

What's going on is that we've got ourselves something rare, a brotherhood of 1200 owners (my apologies to the female lurkers out there), and other Datsun owners can't help wanting to be a part of our family even if they're only cousins.

Hi,

This is a Datsun 1200 Club, built with the objective of sharing info on the old datto, so this includes all that share the same "heart". I think it's a fair definition
If you have a triumph with a GX engine, I think it qualifies, you can get good information from a guy that has this kind of rig.
That's my original idea for the club.

daniel

ps: We had some interessing discussions about fuel injected A14 forklifts! (just to sell my point)

Mmm A14 forklifts...

I think most of the people here have seen my feelings towards 120Y's change. I'd still prefer in this order:
1. any 1200
2. Sunny B310
3. 120Y
4. Porsche

The 120Y is great because of it's larger sway bar that fits a 1200, and it's ability to share a 610 crossmember and use an L or Z series engine.

I agree that we can discuss the 120Y because of it's "Japan Sunny Relationship".

But I think the main problem could be that we've run out of 1200 things to talk about..

Lets write more 1200 topics, so that the 120Y ones don't appear to be so prolific.

Chris.

ps. Personally, I just like to boxy shape maybe more than the engine As for the porsche statement..Who wouldn't...

Hy Datsun mates. I just read, and datodude says that the order of models (in his mind) would be 1200, B310, 120Y etc...
Datto, my friend! the 120Y is closer to the 1200 than the B310. The 120Y is the younger brother, after the 1200, came the 120Y as its continuance, probably not in appereance, but yes in hearth, technology. The B310 came after the 120Y, so it is a distant cousin, with diferent suspension, and other technical aspects. This is not to argue, but to say that, like Daniel wrote, all who share the blood of the A engine, even if not a Datsun(case of the British cars w/ A engines)should remain friends and share information and passion. Yes there is a B210 /210 club, I like it and frequent it, but it is more stock , less of a racy /modification/speed buff club, it is oK, but many information that you find here, you do not find there, because the 1200 has more racing background.I said more, not that the 120Y/B210 has none, but the 1200 has been more exposed in that area, and I do not see anything wrong in sharing that fun. Also, many a 1200 owner also has other Datsuns. I have a B210, also a ute1200, and a 610(180B).I do not talk to much about the 610 because it is diferent in many aspects, but the B210/1200 family ties are as undeniable as the 710/610 are,or the 240Z/260Z/280Z,so why create a fisure when there is none?
One more comment. If it was a purist, stock looking, A12 only, steel stock 12inch wheels, no aftermarket nothing 1200 club, I would have never gotten in, but here we talk about A 12, 13, 14, 15...ca18,20, FJ20, SR20, 13B, 12A, 20B, L20B,L14, L16, L18...
...etc, and it is all good.
I do not think DGONZ said what he said to create a war, he made a comment out of surprise for the 120Y/B210 entertaining topics, and he's been one of the first to join them in a positive way, I think perhaps he did not realise the deep repercussions of his comments. I think it is all positive, because I remember a lot of 1200 fans regarded the 120Y as the ugly ducklin, but I think, they are starting to realize it is not that ugly, it is also a nice car, which has 1200 blood in it, which is good, the 1200 brother is gaining respect, the respect it never had.Who wants to have a wimp as a brother, our brother, the B210 is a great car too, that should make you feel proud. The 510 is not and will never be the brother of the 1200, that only brother is the B210, so, respect it and love it as such, or call yourself judas!
