Yeah Curtis that's a good un. Lowmion pull the fuel line while you're cranking the engine and put it into a little container check that the fuel is flowing well. There is a ml/minute rating in the manual. But if you see a fair bit coming out then that's okay (not a drizzle or a drip).

Just knock all the variables out of the equation and go from there.

Fuel- tick
Spark- tick
Compression- tick
etc etc etc

The fuel filter is always full of petrol and through the carby window I can see the float level which doesn't drop at high revs, although I can't see it under load of course, but will blow the line out before the fuel filter to tank just in case :)

Edit

I also rewired the ignition to separate high amp switch's as the old ignition switch fell apart - to make sure I wasn't losing voltage there.

Sorry I didn't get back to you the other week, daughter works in a bank and it got robbed so got tied up for a while. If you could get down to Bendigo about one and a half hours away I think I would have everything you need. Got a running a12 you could pull the carby off and try or the whole engine if required. Probably have most of the other parts you need to. Cheers Ivan.

Thankyou Ivan, I'll do that - would the Sat 31st July or Sun 1st August be suitable?

Sorry for your daughters grief - you told me about that when we spoke, so I didnt want to intrude.

A very good friend has given me this carby telling me it'll need to be rebuilt and possibly re-jetted. Its a 26/27 Holley, and he gave me a brand new adapter plate for it as well.

(He also told me my points we just about missing all together, so they're being replaced tomorrow)

Is it as easy as swapping over the cable linkage to it from my old one to attach the accelerator cable?

Who would you send it to, to have it totally rebuilt - I can easily put the gasket carby kit in it but I want new butterfly pins etc which is beyond me.

Thankyou in advance - and Ivan I'm still planning on traveling up to Bendigo this w/end for bits :)

On the Cortina Mk1 forum the have these recommended carby repairer's and the associated notes, have any of you used any of these repairers?

Is it recommended to take car and carby to them so it can be jettted using the dyno? Or not?
