anyone had any experience with s/charged a14's? i have just strapped a little roots on the side of my a14 with a 2-inch SU. plenty of porting, a touch of water injection. slotted it back into the 1200 ute - big nads needed to drive it...

I recall a number of years ago some guy installed a s/charged A14 into a Morris Minor. In fact, I think there is a photo of it somewhere in the photo Album.

Also, an article was done on it for Fast Fours and Rotaries but I'm not sure of the issue number.

Hope this may be some help

Oi! You!
You better start talking!

What S/C did you use?
Where did you mount it?
Did you make any mods to the engine?
And I want pics of the engine bay.

the most interesting supercharged car I have ever seen was this austin healey special that came into the mechanic's next door when I was working at this yacht place. the entire flip front was replaced with fibreglass and I peered inside to see this wade supercharger which was about half as big as the six cylinder engine in it! the thing was a racecar from the 50s which was bought out from retirement a couple of times a year for the york flying 50 and the classic rally. the mechanic working on it said it was overboosting despite it having a couple of big blow off valves ,after the supercharger and one on the manifold. It was in to get a problem sorted with the crank pulley, but unfortunately I didnt get to hear it running because the owner was rather anal about it... though having a car like that do you blame him?

hey, sorry for the delay-
i used a s/c off a 4agze. totally fabricated all mounts- mostly weightbearing from the engine mounts. also fabricated a front mount out of aluminium which bolts onto front of motor and holds s/c belt idler (has variable slide to adjust tension). looks ugly but does the job. engine has all forged internals (pistons, crank, valves the lot)and massive porting. currently running about 7 psi and builds to 10 psi at 7000 rpm. love it and will post pics once camera is operational (has shat itself)...

Good to hear from you again.

I like what I am hearing.

Don't forget those pictures. I was wanting to do the exact same thing, pretty much.
So all the information I can get would be great.

Yes Blowen 1400,I have.
I used an ols roots blower that was a cabin pressuriser off a WW2 bomber, drawing through an 1 3/4'' SU. The thing was overdriven to buggary bought still produced 8lbs boost.
They go very well don't they. The windmill brigade don't know what they are missing out on as a very cheap and simple, low cost alternative.
Cheers

Good to hear that the super charger is alive and well. All the late model tubo cars on the road make me sick. I am very new to this most salubrious club, (and indeed computers). What I am building is a 1200 sedan with a blown a14. I am using a blower of a toyota 2L V6 soarer. When I compared it to my mates 1600/MR2 one, mine is a bigger unit. I got a cam ground to suit, and its only just driveable in traffic. Using a steel shim the compression is down to 7.9to1.
All the mounting brackets and manifolding has been custom fabricated. Presently the motor is only runny a standard hatachi carb with bigger jets. (I wanted to break in the cam and retork the head with out trying to tune an experemental set up ) All the parts ,pulleys tentioners and manifolds are made, my only dely in assembly is that I need to install some kind of backfire protection.

The SA DESIGN guide to street supercharging states that backfires can damage a blower .So Ill start with a richer mixture and less advance, oh by the way Im running carburation with suck through.

I was wondering if perhaps BLOWN1400 or B110SSS could share with me what their setups used.
