does anyone know what is best for it
Perhaps you could define 'best' for your application.
If reliability, smooth running & good mileage is your idea of 'best', then the original will serve you well.
If you want a cost effective pep up on an otherwise stock engine, then the downdraught Weber as found on some Cortina models is a popular upgrade & it needs only a readily available adapter on your stock manifold. Be prepared to spend a little time geting the jetting right.
Another single carb upgrade for an improved performance engine would be a sidedraught Weber/DelOrto/Solex. This will provide a reasonable boost in performance at an affordable price.
It all depends on what you call 'best'
Try wreckers for the first two carbs, & check the ads in places like the Trading Post & car magazines for the sidedraught, or you could post a wanted ad here.
