Although I dont need a ute, I am surprised that no one had taken it of your hands.
As a matter of interest why are you so desperate to sell it.
I am aware if Kevs work and it is top noch.
There are alsways posts from people wanting utes so I hope you get a genuine buyer and no more tyre kickers.
good luck to you man

Basically i am selling because i am under orders to clear out... as it is I have been living in Japan for 2 years (but back in Oz now), plus i have decided that while i can and while i am able i am going to continue to live outside Australia for a few more years. I have a 5 year UK visa in my passport that starts on September 1st. I wanna see Europe and i can always return to Japan and get some easy money to finance more travel. In a nut shell i am clearing out all my gear that i have in Australia so i don't have to worry when mum and dad finally move house and i have fewer/no worries when it comes to travel and relocating. My brother is setup in London so i have that as a base, friends in Germany and the weather seems nice in Spain... looking for the next challenge i suppose???

If someone in nsw bought the ute can they use the rego till it runs out then change over to nsw rego?
Or do you have to change it strait away?
I'm just not sure about how it work.
Cheers
Ryan

I think you will get a refund for the remaining rego and just have to get a blue slip and re-register in NSW.

To do it properly....( Beware, I hate Queensland Transport with a passion)

You need to fill out a transfer of registration form from queensland transport. It needs to be signed and filled out by the owner and the new owner almost while in the same room. I'd ask for it filled out as much as possible by the owner when taking possession of the car.

QLD Transport sent my transfer of registration back to me twice in the mail, telling me I needed to have all sorts of docs that were impossible for me to obtain without flying up to Brisbane. They also wanted to charge me for transfer of rego, which is what NSW rego people would have double charged me for also. I ended up telling them to get stuffed, and returned the plates to the NSW registry. And re-registered in NSW.

So it's not super easy. May be more difficult as the car is modified. Call QLD Transport and ask them what you need to do. Get a Name and number of the QLD transport representative before hanging up. You'll need someone to quote, because they'll change their story if you ring them twice.

BTW, I'm very sad that such a Datto sellout needs to happen. I reckon your ute is a bargain at the asking price. You couldn't build one the same at twice the price.

Cheers,
Chris

In response to questions of registration i asked the RTA what the procedure was and they would not comment on specifics (i guess it is up to the inspection guys) but also gave me this link: New registration -> Second-hand vehicles (interstate)
