Hey all after a little closer look at the engine lead set up i know from experience (i think) in the 1200 workshop manual it tells you to put the leads on the way you have on the dizzy...BUT that didnt work for me...were u got ignition lead 4 on the dizzy put number 1 lead and work around from there again...if you didnt take the leads of the dizzy cap you may have the dizzy cap on the wrong way...hope it helps...

Pump lots of fuel in a the valves should be set to .25mm.
I did my head this week and got a new head with rockers on it.Used it how it was and the dam thing wasnt oiling the rockers had to use the one from the old head.
How long has it been off the road ?

I would try a compression test if the valve clearance adjustments don't work, did you end up swapping heads or just try reusing the old corroded head? to be sure you have the distributor wiring done right I have taken the distributor cap off and the rocker cover off and proceeded to turn the engine over checking the rotation of the distributor and counting the strokes of the number 1 cylinder by watching the valves open then close to work out when the number 1 cylinder should fire. Hope that helps

I'm about to go out and adjust those valve clearances. Hopefully it should work.
I'm very sure that I've got the leads in the right order (as I did number them as I took them off) and the dizzy cap is definatly on the right way. It only fits one way.
I also got my head fixed up as it would've been cheaper then swapping all of my gear on to the head that I got courtesy of a mate of Tyrie's (cheers mate!) It turned out that the head I got off your mate was exactly the same as mine!
I had mine cleaned, alloy welded and decked ready to go back on.

Well, you guys were exactly right. I adjusted the valve clearances and poof! she fired up...
But...
After about 5 minutes of idleing I noticed there was still steam coming out of the exhaust and after a further 5 minutes at the back of the head water was starting the creep out...
Not happy!
I'll get the head back off and inspect it again and try it once more... but if it doesn't work I might just consider a swap an A15.

Looks like you need to get your head shaved for trueness. Glad it was what I suspected, but bad about the failed gasket...
