Reminds me of the part at the end of "the brave little toaster" where the cars all tell stories about their past acomplishments but then get crushed any way. That part always made me cry.

HI
Little history on "myself" USED to own a scrapyard which ONLY stripped B series cars and bakkies. Yes I know I did it for the money. I have to tell some one. I stripped 2 to 5 a DAY! After 4 Years I closed the shop. I have LOTS of spares still lying around after giving tons away and not to mentioned 4567Kg of parts left at recyclers. There I have said it. I feel $#%@#

But now I rebuild them. Turbo, Gas, Stroke.

OctaneR, we are glad you have seen the light ...

That's one scary story. I had no idea such places existed (scrap only b-series cars and bakkies).

Thats funny that you say the government pays them to crush the cars. Where did this info come from?
You will find that it is more cost effective for a wreckers to go buy a new car off the lot and strip it and sell it for parts. If they buy any old car pre 90's, how easy do you thunk it is to break it up and regain the purchase cost, labour cost and yard costs? Fact is 95% of cars on the road nowdays are late models. Having said that, what do you think the statistics are on late model car crashes compared to older models. Which market is biggest with demand for parts?
