If your building a 2.4L L-series, I thought you needed a Z24 crank, rod and pistons. Also isnt there clearance issues inside the L-series block with the z-series crank counterweights.

Edit: ok your building it to 2.2L.

Should be a nice engine B120dat!

does the block have Japan or Aust stamped on it? if it's japan don't worry about getting a Z22 block, only if you want to run the Z22 crank? apparently the blocks with Japan stamped are thicker in the bores, compared to aust

Short couper is this right?.. I need the z22 because of its thicker bores and longer stroke. I dont want to take a L20 block out too far say 120thou. The L4 head requries a 88+ bore and with a l20 block the tops of the pistons will
need to be flycut for the valve reliefs as will the block for the exhausts...

Would be alot easier if I could find a Japan L20 then. the Z and L 4clyinders were basically indentical even monted in same places.

Okay I bought a Z22 ... Found just a block at a wreckers. Looks pretty good bores seem ok. Just need to strip her down and start the machining now

I took alot of effort to find a z22!!.. not too many around, lots of Z20 and Z24.

Will put pics of it soon.

Okay stripped down the Z22. A few of the bottom end bearings were rooted, looks like lack of oil. The pistons were good and were the rings. The bores look good expect for one which as a bit of a vertical indent line in it about a qauter of the bore, its in one of the pics but its hard too see, I hope its not to serious.

Those to cranks are above is Z22 and below is L20b. The l20b is much more meatier! and is slighty heavier as you can proably tell from the pic.

L20b is fully counterweight whereas z22 isnt.

You are going L20b crank in z22?

I've heard that although the z22 cranks arent fullycounterweight they can still rev!
