Hey guys,

I decided I better shed some light onto this diff conversion. Firstly the diff spring mounts are perfect distance apart. My diff came out of a KE50 (coupe) auto, and is a 4.3 ratio.

These are the problems i had:

- Shock mounts werent right (i'm still using them, just on a bit of an angle) - hope this will be ok.
- 120y flange does not fit the corolla diff - this is not only the ke50 but also the ke25(I think... not good with model numbers). It comes close 2 holes line up and 2 are aprox 1mm out
- Hand brake cables are a prick (no way you could fit unless you got the whole kit and kaboodle out of the rolla.

Some things i have learnt:

- Stock 1200 U bolts help with the diff mount
- Rolla diffs seem to be the same width as the 120y bw, but its the brakes which make it wider.
-This is a prick of a way to change ratios

Anyway any more qns shoot em my way

then the ke30 ones are heaps bigger(i think, couldnt measure it coz the axels were out)

yeah heaps stronger than h145, i've heard reports its stronger than h165 too.

I should have done some measurements before i put it all back in. I estimate the overall track has increased by about 50 -75mm.

My wheels sit pretty good now, definatly match the sunny/stanza front LCA's.

Anyway i'm off to put some oil in the diff/gearbox and take it for a thrash.

so its a ke30 onwards BW diff, looks similar to the BW found in a 200b, but not as wide
probably the same strength as the 120y BW, but havnt seen the size of one of these so not to sure

the axels/tubes looked the same width, but the brakes are heaps wider... this is the reason why they increase rear track so much.

the axles are definitely longer.

there is some info and a link in the tech section under "easy swaps" http://datsun1200.com/modules/nsections/index.php?op=viewarticle&artid=30#swaps-easy
