My A12 in my coupe has 142 hp or 106kw at the rear wheels ...... A15's will produce more torque but won't rev as hard. In saying that I only pull 8200 rpm in my A12.

Mazda pistons can be used, but when I tried they didn't last - go with forged if you can.

i will agree that the a12 a13 will rev harder. I know of an a13 which redlined at 10,000rpm however my a15 will gladly rev out to 8500.

I am still to dyno the engine in my sports sedan
Probably cause I'm aftaid its not built right and will probably tear it down again before it actually gets into the car.
I'm hoping for 180 and according to the flow charts should be achieveable.
I'll let ya know how quick it is when I get it finished.
Hopefully the flywheel should be ready to pick up Grand Prix weekend.

Feral Errol if your watching did you read the flow chart and pick me a cam and pistons yet ???

Hello Matsfatdat!!
I know a cheap way of getting high compression in the A15 with standard Datsunparts, use A15 block and crankshaft with A14 conrods and pistons.... you have to use A14 head because the pistons comes out of the cylindes about 2mm. I used a semirace camshaft that lifts 11,16mm so I had to cut out room for the valves in the pistons, the compression is about 12,5 so I had to drive it with octanbooster (100octane). I never dynoed the engine but it was wild.... I still have it in my garage, my brother may use it in some of his coming projects so maybe I

Stevo,
The engine I have is one of Allan Pitts.
His engines are really magic. Allan is living in Sydney now I believe.

yes,the a14 in my sunny now has an a15 crank with a14 pistons & rods.i had the pistons machined down to flat top,but it's still got lots of compression, like 11.5-12 - 1.it has a small cam in it,& as i have the other motor i'm not too worried about changing it over to something bigger.still,it revs to 7500 in 1st & 2nd,but only 7000 in 3rd & 4th.pretty good for something we put together from leftovers.

Hmm, never thought of switching rods/pistons from an A14 onto a A15 crank....you're using the A14 block too right? Well anyways, I've heard of A15's doing high 12's in Japan, from a friend of a friend. But I did talk to a guy selling a bunch of performance Datsun parts once that used to build A series engines for people. He said he built one that put out 200 hp and ran 13's in a Japanese Ute, but I would imagine it wouldn't be a daily driver and would require frequent rebuilds. I'm surprised that mine still runs so great since I rebuilt it 7 years ago, I did a cheap job too! Still gets 30 mpg's on the highway with the twin Dellorto's! However I've given thought of doing another engine either A14/15 using a bigger cam, higher compression, GX head, and more engine work. My first rebuild was only $1000, I wouldn't mind doing another...it's fun!
