I was at both the shasta and the canby meet this year. I did hear about the thunder hill meet they might/might not put on, I hate the heat.

it is a massive effort. Dennis and Peggy both looked in good shape the last time I saw them in February. Maybe something has changed. Maybe they are getting tired of Datsuns.. I don't understand how this is possible!!

All the same, a lot of effort goes into organising Shasta (or any large event), and it's all done for love, I'm sure they never made a great deal of money from it.

This is disturbing news indeed.

I'll find out the truth and let us all know.

It is sad news. I attended 2003 Shasta with my 610 Datsun. 2004 Shasta was going to be my B210 appearance, but I was not able to finish my engine work and I missed it. 2005 is when my B210 got stolen by the city and all that nightmare made of Shasta 05 not an option for me.
For this year Shasta I had to be in Washington DC on that week. I was preparing my 610 for next Shasta, new paint job ( original colour) coil over suspension, sway bars, 5 speed and dual DCOE's.........man! I hope something is done. I heard stories by a friend that attended this year that the Roadster crowd seems to be a little snoby. The meet was held once with all Datsuns included, but seems the Roadster crowd got annoyed by the great number of 510 Datsuns ( the most common one here in the US).
The Roadster crowd does not want to participate in an all Datsun meet, if that is the case....shame on them....how ludicrous it would be if true.....a Datsun discriminationg against other Datsuns......at least I know is not Datsun vrs Datsun...but stupid owners . I hope I am wrong.
Shasta is an ideal place for the meet. Nice and scenery. Away from big city life. I was told the managers at Shasta the complex also want to raise the rent. I wonder, in summer, no snow, what could beat a weekend of Datsun enthusiasts?? Many of these people will be around for sky season, and, above it all, revenue for the place. Other than that, close the place and let the spiders enjoy it.
And if you think about it, all that is used is a parking lot that is nothing close to top of the line pavement. The facility, for what I remember, was used only for opening and closing ceremonies. I entered that place only for the final ceremony. The complex is not used at full capacity, not evern at 30%.

I will have to find another show to go this next year. Hopefully not.
