Looks bad to me. There should be something like 1.5 inch play from bottom.

i didnt know there was a longer T50 gearbox... The 3T and the 2T boxes are the same length with the same internals, only difference is the output shaft, 2T has 20 splines, 3T has 22 splines. so the shaft wouldn't go in if it was for the wrong sort.
besides, i bought the gearbox and the tailshaft second hand after it had been in a ute (like mine) so i thought it would have been the right length...

Out of one ute into another, the only thing I can think of is that as A15s into early model cars always have some some variation in the home made mount modifications maybe the engine in the old ute sat a little further back.

i went into the local fab joint in town today. they do truck extensions and all sorts there so i though they might be able to extend my tailshaft on site, but they get it done at a place called truckline in melbourne. so anyway i was happy for them to take it and get ti sent away, untill i asked how much it might cost to get another 45mm put in. i nearly fainted..... $300 plus freight down and back... so probably closer to $400. thats about $9/mm anyway its got to be done, and after all, its only money...

Attaboy, that's the attitude. You will have everything right in the end & the pain of cost will fade. I have been spending a few dollars of late too. Now, which way to the soup line.
