So let me understand. If you use the sidedraughts, then what we have is an American, fitting Italian carbs, that are made in Spain, to an Australian manifold, on a Japanese engine.

Now it that isn't the spirit of International co-operation, then I don't know what is.
Yes, and the car has new replacement euro style chrome bumpers that I ordered from the UK about 6 years ago. You've gotta love it!

Hey Mike. What did you buy the single side draft intake for if you had these?
Oh, I will take some feedback too if you dont mind. LOL

I bought it as a backup plan if my custom fabbed master cylinder relocation project isn't finished in time for the historic ice races on the 24th. I could just bolt on the single side draft manifold and put the master and booster back quickly.

This is why I toy with the idea of dual 38 DGAS Webers. To aussies it sounds unnecesary, but for LHD Dattos, at least the 1200 and the B210, a dual 38 DGAS/DGES Weber would make the difference. I am working on it. I already got the parts, a manifold and the aluminum blocks. I tried to see any dual downdraft set ups on Datsuns but there are none.
Two DGAS will provide a barrel for each cylinder.

Jamie I really would think that dual dgas 38's would be too much.

But hey what do I know?

My other option is to do the unthinkable. I have a plan to mount the master cylinder ahead of the carbs and actuate it via a custom made 3/8" steel dowel pushrod. I would need to fabricate and weld reinforced mounting brackets to the left frame rail to mount the master.

That's not so unthinkable, my bro inlaw did it with his 1200. It is a RHD car, but with the CA18DET he fitted there was no space for the booster on the firewall, so he mounted it ahead of the strut tower. He manufactured brackets from angle iron and flat bar, which was bolted to the chassis and strut tower. It works a charm, and he hasn't had any problems with it yet, after 2 years.

Also the square shape MK2 Escorts all have their brake boosters mounted like that out of the factory, and the MK1 Golfs, you call them Rabbits I think, all have elaborately linked boosters on the opposite side of the car.

.. perhaps BlueMax....On a full modified engine I think it would work wonders( 38 DGAS). If it is a stock motor or mildly modified, perhaps a twin 32/36 would be more efficient.

If we can have 2 DCOE 40's downdraft, then 2 DGAS 38's downdrafts would be within the league.

Kululadogroen...any pictures???

Jaimie,

Have you ever seen this picture?

Someone from the Yahoo 210 club sent it to me. Although you can't see it very well in this photo, he has built a twin downdraft setup. He claims it ran good, but opinions can vary on what "good" is.

In my opinion, twin side drafts would always be faster than a setup like this. But I like the way it looks though!

The remote booster at the front of the engine bay can work really well... RHD BMWs also had this setup to convert from LHD. Check out the top of the pic of my e21 to see how BMW did their setup.

(follow the link... for some reason the pic won't post)
