I love my A series revs all day, kills old alfa romeo's and hyundais no problem and it's an auto!
BUT......I would be looking more into a later turbo injected package, you know? SR20DET, 13B Rotary, CA18DET, or even a FJ20DET heavy weight.
Or play with turbo and injection on your A series
Just my 2c worth you will have lots of fun what ever you do, two thirds of the fun is in the build up

Sorry Jeff,
Its a case of whats known as 'Bad Planning'. The twins came early and I didn't have a key to get the Datto out of Mick's shed.
:( :( :(
So I stayed home and painted the one in my shed. :)

Congrates on the 53.33 second lap. Thats really good! I'm assuming that was OP South not GP.

I'll have to revisit the rule book, but I'm pretty sure that Class 3 requires the original quantity of valves and I'm under the impression that Chris' CA is a 16-valve head therefore moving him up to Class 4. I wanna stay in Class 3.

Is there any chance you can do a quick measurement on the vertical height (as opposed to the L-series lean) of your L20???
I'm kinda curious to know now!

Daniel.

I was intending to keep this quiet, but this thread seems like an appropriate place to mention it...

I'm planning on building another L series 1200 (or 120Y) for hillclimbs and sprints, but this time with a screamer L16 for the under 1600 class. I've been collecting parts for a few weeks now... got a ported head, stanza 5spd box, and a few other goodies...

should be able to get the same power (probably more) than the old L18 I built and ran in the 1200 for years, but this time with good tyres instead of the Hankook rubbish I had then.

Should settle this A vs L series debate pretty convincingly when its finished

Thanks Daniel!
Yes, nearly happy with 53.3 - closest I have ever been to "the boss" @ 52.64
Not 100% sure but multivalve isn't a real issue for the class - I know that late model cars have min weights and this may apply if you fit a multi valve. Still a class 3 though.
Give me a little time and I will do a measure for you!
Hey Harry,
glad to hear of your return to the 'force' - that L series torque is addictive
Cheers
