Can u belive this????
my mate was meant to have his a14 ready for the rebels dyno comp in QLD but could not get it done in time...
he had to settle with the stock old smokey a12 bottom end with some really schmick bolt ons....small amount of headwork custom valves, custom plenum and exhaust manifolds, s15 t28 bb, microtec, 3 1/2" stainless exaust with screamer, bosch coilpacks and a stock a12 bottom end,
stock sedan diff,
stock 60series gearbox

running 240hp @18psi...
pics and video footage to prove it...
now stick that in ur CA pipe and smoke it....

funnny thing is the new a14 engine will be ready in about 2 weeks.... and way more power can be made... it has forged pistons fully balanced and blueprinted block... and planing to be running in excess of 20psi .....

big clap to all the boys at Headworx @ Yatala for giving me back some faith in the old a series power...

faaaaark I don't think I am making half as much power with my built A15, I am guessing that the secret of the power was in the tuning of the fuel injection, spark timing and intercooling?
definately load pics and vid this I gotta see!

it not that simple...
a lot of work has been done to get it to this stage...
fuel injection with a good tune is the key
he was maxxing out the 330 cc injectors so got some 440cc on friday...
then went for a final tune before the dyno comp...
it has perfect a/f ratios all the way through the rev range with a liitle bit of fattness up the top...

It will be interesting to see what the A14 will make. Forged pistons and stronger rods do not make more power.

The power limiter is the cylinder head. Naturally aspirated they max out about 200hp, but that is with radical porting. The only way to make more is to pressurize the engine (18 lbs boost is a lot, over two atmospheres). That will generate a lot of heat in the port, even when an intercooler is used. Lots of fuel (rich mixture) and high-octane fuel is required to prevent detonation.
