Just keep moving on the CA20 if you already have it.
The CA20 can be worse than the CA18, but even the CA18 has a terrible reputation for blowing headgaskets, leaking oil, and blowing heater hoses and making strange noises.
I think it will be good with fuel, and plenty of torque in a 120Y. If the engine is in good condition, it should all go well.
Can't wait to hear more on the progress.

Well its not stock it has a lightened flywheel and flot top pistons copper head gasket extractors and some other small things iv got a camry radiator installed and its very tight and looks really neat. Iv yet to try and start it i wanna put together the drive line first will the stock auto diff hold up to the power? Im thinking of a turbo after i get my p plates if its legal. Can any one tell me wheather it is?

i reverse eye the leaf springs today and took the second leaf turned it up side down and put it on top its low but doesnt sit level would it really matter if i put in 2in lowering blocks?

2" blocks as well as flipped leaves? thats pretty low...

no its not really that low its just not sitting level and looks like the back end is sitting really high is it possibly to make your own blocks coz i only need and inch mabey inch and a half

Im trying to put a ca20e into a 78 datsun 1500 ute with a J15 in it. its all original.
the motor is getting very sad and i have a good ca20e ready to go in.
what do i need to do this convertion ?
im hoping the gearbox and the tailsharft is the worst of my troubles.
any info would be great.. cheers - Ricko.

ive got a 72 1200 ute with a ca20e in it. it goes alright and has massive amounts of torque. we drove it from melbourne to sydney no problem. 105hp but it only weighs 900kg(weighbridge only went to 0.1 ton increments). it spins my 205 rubber really easy.
