Geez this has turned into a classiczcars thread

Reuben, That grill is ute or '66 model year if i am not mistaken. They are a little different but overall the same design. I dont like em that much, they make the car look older! I recon 67-68 grill is the best (I have a 67 for the wag(a 68))

As for the crummy remark... wash your mouth out!

As I wrote before, this ute looks to be a 1968 model, the first year of B20 production. They were introduced in December of 1967 & were made untill September of '68.

The grille looks quite similar to the 1967 model B10 & VB10 [Oct '66 to Sept '67] but is in fact not the same.

If memory serves, the 1967 model grille, used on Sedan & Van only, was stamped in aluminium, as were the headlight rims, while the 1968 B20 Ute grille was stamped in steel & painted a matt silver. There was also a difference in the center of the grille as the '67 model grille had a tall, narrow 'shield' shaped center piece to mount the tall & narrow shield shaped emblem.

The 1968 Ute grille mounted the same emblem as the 1968 passenger models & did not have this shaped panel in the center, but had two mounting points for the newer emblem instead.

The headlight rims were also different, even if only in the material they were made from, with alloy for the 1966 models & steel, painted matt silver for the 1968 Ute.

Are they interchangeable? I don't know, but would not be at all surprised if they were.
The upside for the Ute parts is that being steel, they will readily chrome plate, while the softer alloy of the 1967 models tends to dent more easily, but will polish up very nicely.

This is a 1968 B20 Ute with a 1967 B10 & VB10 grille. Note the central emblem & compare to the other ute in this thread. I do not know if the rims are steel '68 Ute or alloy 1967 model.

EDIT
OK, now that we can compare, it's easy to see that the two grilles are similar in appearance, but quite different in construction.

Besides the checkerplate in the tray and the grille, I reckon its awesome.

Blueprint blue doesn't look bad on anything, the wheels suit it great and they're nice and big plus its nice and low. But yeah, I'm sure not everyone likes it!

the "gladfoil" grille cover with black painted grille frame makes it look very cheap.
If the grille base was the same alloy grey he used throughout it will work better.
A matching the window frames doesnt get the balance right. Even alloy grey window frames will work better.
The drum brakes at the front are crying for an upgrade or paint the drums black so people think you have no brakes on your hubs

A credit to the owner for making a good effort on the panel work well done.

Well, I'm not normally a 'big wheel' fan, but I think it looks great. The body is sooooo straight, & the blue suits it perfectly.
Like everybody else, there are some minor things I would do differently, but top marks for a job well done with what I assume
was prevoiusly a very scruffy & probably incomplete Ute.

I think that the ride height suits the car better than a 'sill scraper' too.

Mmmmm Datsun B20 Ute. It'll haul arse baby.
