the tt runs as a project.... its a work in progress as is anything that we all do to our cars.

Who cares about cross breading, its olnt the purists that care and are limited by their own narrow sightedness.

I wasnt a real fan of cross breading but a couple of rotor utes in action make you see things otherwise.

If it makes it lighter, faster and more reliable (rotors out now ) go for it.

V6 into 1200, more of a lead tipped arrow than a l series. but each to thier own.

Pigdog has a wealth of information now. pm him for details (except how to get neg camber with an angle grinder )

may not be able to get it registered under new laws coming in most states (overseen by federal govt guidelines) but that should be after the election

Well the Chev 3.8 V6 is the same engine as the Holden, so no it doesn't make it any less of a Datsun.

That black 1200 looks to have Chev V8. Still a Datsun oh wait it has Chevy badge on the grille

HEllo,
Just recently I was lucky enough to see and chat with the owner about his road rego'd V6 Datsun ute.

it was running a Ford Capri V6 and built many years ago. the car is very tidy and from the outside looks remarkably standard.

The owner even remarked the V6 wouldnt be the ideal swap today however it does have certain driving characteristics which he preferred over say a CA18DET etc (not to say a CA18 is bad)

I am not really a purist and wouldn't hesitate dropping a V6 of any different make into a Datsun ute... I like the Datsun, I don't see it as de-valuing the car. I have friends who are dropping RB26DETT's and RB30's into their FC Holdens, so it goes both ways.

I always admire the engineering it takes to make these conversions happen.

Cheers Ed

The Ford Cologne V6 has zero turbo lag. And as it is 2.6 or 2.8 liters it has much larger displacement, no need to rev it up high to make power. And german engineering...

But it's a very tight fit in a 1200. The Ford Windsor 5.0 liter fits much better.

Ahh if only windsors where available in all alloy! If the buick v6 was cheaply avail in alloy with oldskool pushrods, everyone inc. me would be using them from datsuns to hotrods.
The expensive aftermarket Alloy blocked buick setups are close to the L20B weight.
Ls1-LS9 are just so much better than twin cammed complicated v8s.
For weight, packaging and simplicity they are the engine of choice for supercars.
I'd gladly take the latest GTR with an LS9 with LS7 titanium rods and valves.
640hp with 80 less kg in the front and lighter rear suspension bits.
