Andrew Denniss is the man to speak to(CA18Det_Man).

I think the turbo and NA blocks are a little differnt to each other if i remember correctly. To tell u the truth i dont know at all. But i do know its easier to just buy a det
block and start from there. Andrew will tell u all u need to know.

I don't tihnk it would be too much hassle.
The DET has different pistons, different cams and obviously a turbo. But other than that I think they are quite similar. So you'd need to put in a decompression plate, maybe modify the
cams etc. I think it would be cheaper for you to get a short engine for < $1000 and work from there. I would totally recommend using an aftermarket computer too. The stock computer isn't
real good.
I've not heard of anyone doing a NA to Turbo conversion of a CA18DE, although I thought about it, and decided a new engine was easiest.

I would not recomend converting a NA Ca18 to turbo sure it can be done but only a low boost around 150kw would be recomended. ALso at a resonable cost. The pistons for starters are dome
top over 9:1 the turbo ones are flat top for lower compresion 8.5:1. Also the block is different for oil cooling an water coiling of turbo. Also oil sqirters for bottom of piston to
keep them cool. It would be cheper to buy complete turbo engine from wreckers than to modify a non turbo and get it reliable.
