just put my holley g180 on and went to fine tune it, she started fine once the fuel got there then reved up to 2 grand then sits there. to slow it down i have to push the linkage back a poofteenth then its fine till i let go, the cable is not tight, the linkage is not binding but she still wants to rev to 2 grand. i have checked the idle speed screw and it is not even touching the stop plate and disengaged the elec choke. any thoughts?

return sping?

So when you put you foot down it revs normally and then when you take you foot off it stops at 2000rpm? Adn the only way to make it go under 2K is to push the linkage back?

Is the cable sticking?
run your fingers down the cable just where it comes out of the covering thing(Can't think of the word??) run them up and down and if it prickles you then that might be what it is.

Otherise I would say return spring.
BUt then again, I don't have much of an idea...

I haven't had any real problems with mine. But carby dudes set mine up...
I stoppped using the stnadard 1200 throttle cable with mine cos it kept on snapping.
The one I have now is a little thicker.
Also with the standard throttle cable (I went through about 4) it would also start to fray and stick. Thats why I thought that might be the problem with yours.
Try WD40ing up the linkage. It might be stiff or something.
You haven't got chokes on it?
Sorry, I'm not too sure...

i went and took the linkages of and wound up the return spring this has fixed the revs to normal but i will have to get a stiffer spring as it is a flimsy one and it is done up so much that it is restricting the full range of linkage cycle. i also took the choke blades off as i dont like chokes( never have, never will) just a bit of pedal and she's away

you could also check the mixture screw because my 32/36 (which is the same as a 180 holley) was doing the same thing and by playin with mixture and the stop screw for the secondary fixed her up sweet. she's for sale by the way
