I've had a bit of a search through the wiki etc and cant find much detail on this conversion. It obviously has been done. What success' or failures have 310 owners had with this set up??

Cheers. Adam.

they should bolt straight in if you use the sunny strut tops and weld a smaller spring perch on the struts, or have coilovers
you will also need to buy/make a sheer load spacer for the bottom of the strut to locate on the steering arm correctly

then once its done you will have heaps better brakes and about 10feet more suspention travel

to achieve what?

im pretty sure that you can only fit the small springs in sunny strut towers but not 100%
so with any strut upgrade you would have to weld the sunny spring perches on, not really a hard task just cut the spring perch through just above the weld, dont cut into the strut obviously, then just give it a few taps with a hammer and it should come off
do the same to the new struts then slide teh sunny spring pech on......then just add weld

its only r31 bluebird s12 and maybe 280zx struts that need the sheer load spacer

I just wanted some bigger brakes that would last a bit longer at the track. I do have a Maddat setup on another car but my 14"challengers wont clear the brakes.

Was just fishing for ideas on what else I could use... working in an auto dismantlers I can chop and change to see what works best.

Cheers. Adam.

vr commodore calipers and 276mm magna discs, need to space the caliper out 1.5mm and modify the disc to suit the datsun hub

these will work on the sunny struts but your better off getting some 180b struts and changing the spring perch as they allow more suspention travel

these will fit under 14" mags and stop really well

my friend has done it, but using S13 struts. he just need to change to coilover, and make slight modification to castor rods. S13 castor rod can be used, just weld a new bracket one the same position. the result is, damn nice for drifting and braking.

another one i m thinking of is using R32 strut, as my another friend change his S13 to R32 5 lugs. 320mm disc

seems like several nissan and datsun strut are interchangable, just try it!

i will change it in few weeks, buy the time i tell you if possible. cheers

I dont think S13 struts bolt up to the sunny steering arm.
