Just thinking some more actually. The closer I make the welded joint to the outer side of the tubes the less effect a very small distortion would create. I think it will be fine.

Bad news. While me and the mate were shortening the axle we FU_KED it. We managed to get it all lathed up, after going through a few carbide bits, the axles must be made of some seriously hard stuff. Once out of the lathe we set it up in the mill to do the splines. While cutting the FIRST spline the high speed steel cutting wheel went blunt and the cut went to SH_T.

So now I have to get a new axle.

I made a few phone calls and I cant find anyone in Townsville to do my new axle so I will have to send it south.

Anyone know a good place to get it done??

What I am trying to do is find a mob that can also supply the axle so I dont have to ship one around the country. I will pay a bit more but it will save me time and money if they can supply/source a R31 long axle and cut it to what I need.

Or if someone on this site could help me out by sourcing one for me and dropping it off to get shortened
