E-16 crank in an A15?

Guys,
I've heard rumors that the E16 (88mm stroke) crankshaft can be modified to install into an A series block. The A15's crank has an 82mm stroke. My 3 mm over A15 currently displaces 1608 cc's. An E16 crank would give me 1725 cc's!

Does anyone have any experience or knowledge on how this is done or if it can even be done?

There is a speedway competitor on this forum and also a crank machinist that uses the e13 series crank into a12 and also uses the ohc e15 head to make it an OHC A series.

Now this would be possible to do it the other way round.

The other thing is that the e series crank has the 40mm rod journals which are like bike engines and offer that little bit more all up.

Another method would be to keep your a15 crank use the e15 rods and offset and resize the rod journals to increase your stroke.

no it will not because the crank is still pushing the piston the same as it would with the standard rods just the piston will reach bdc higher then with the standard rods but the piston will still travell the same distance

If he had said "offset and resize the crankpin" it would increase stroke, changing the rod journals would only change the stroke / rod ratio

I've taken 'rod journal' & 'crankpin' to be one & the same thing. At least, that's what they taught us in tech when we were doing engine reconditioning.

Fitting a rod of different length would change the rod length to stroke ratio as would stroking the engine & keeping the same rod.

Think you're getting confused between "big end" & "main" journals (crankshaft) and "rod" journals (conrods)

I agree with dodgeman, rods don't have journals as such, to my understanding a journal is a surface that a plain bearing runs on, not a surface that the shell backs up against and has no relative movement against.
