We had quite a lot of trouble with the NISMO (or Nissan Competition) lifters failing in the 80s and 90s. Now, most A series racers in the US use lifters made from tool steel. Now, no cam failures. Reliability is very good! Many shops sell these for about $250 - $300 USD per set.

What type of failures occurred, was it lobe failure from lack of radius on the face of the lifter or did the lifter break?

Do you know of any one making titanium based lifter kits to save me having to get some made up?

Now thats a hike and a halve. 500 - 600 us!.
Feral I heard of these types of pushrods that have been used in speedway successfully at high rpm in a series:

or something better than titanium and cheaper:

good luck.

I reckon the 3m ones would rock and 3m have good return policies if any probs.

Damn, thats really odd! I was gonna use these again..hmmmm....
I ran one set of hollow lifters for 4 seasons,no problem, with big cam, big heavy valves...
I still reckon the secret is oil (good stuff) and lots of it (enormous oil pump).

The 3M rods sound great. With titanium lifters and retainers as well, the valve train should be nice and light.

This will have to make up for the heavier 214N valves (tuliped and thin profile) I am fitting in the interest of greater reliability.

The working life of titanium valves is a little short for my pocket, even using the new 6AL 5VN $$$$$$$$$ Alloy.

Tim, Are you running a dry sump or conventional style pump?
