Why did later B310 styles not have headlamp relays?
I had to add them to mine.

B210Sleeper: No idea why the didn't put a relay for the headlights.... but it was a dumb idea.

I think putting a relay in was one of the first things i did to my ute, voltage at the headlights (engine off) went from around 11v to full battery voltage!

Makes a BIG diff in the brightness.

I'd assume you'd just use the normal power supply to the head light, as the trigger feed for the relay.
But I'm no auto sparky. That way you'd need a seperate relay for dip and high beam. Most light relays (Well the ones I've seen did) have two power out terminals. (One for each headlight)

I'd say that SSSute's relay is the pass light like Dattodude said. The headlight switch has reasonably stout contacts, (It's a mechanical switch) but the pass light is only a small button. And the current drawn by the high beams would burn the contacts. The horn relay is different.

Horn relay looks like this (this one is from a 1971 ute):

Notice it has spade connectors. Sedans and Coupes looks similar but with the spades coming out at right angles. They are located here under the coil:

The Passing Lamp switch looks the same as well (large spade connectors) but I have no idea where they put it. Does your turn signal lever have a Passing Lamp switch?

The one SSSute listed cames from under the dashboard, right?

As Burke mentioned (i think?) is this the relay on the radiator support, next to the LH headlight, for the choke + anti-diesel solenoid?
EDIT: I guess not. I just looked at the wire diagram. The Relay (auto choke) Heater has 4 wires going to it.

Hmm...seems like the right colors for the horn. I wonder if the Late Utes (1985 model) used a secondary horn relay:

Horn Relay Wire colors (for 1971-1973 models):
Green
Green w/white stripe
Black w/green stripe

I can't imagine they moved the regular Horn Relay inside, and used those small wires ...
