Are those bumpers chrome under the paint??

It reminds me of my own datsun adventures over many years to get a nice 30 year old car that runs better than it did OEM in every way. Now I'd have to spend $30k to buy a new car that would be anywhere as good. To do it under $10k I've come out way ahead.

Keep at it!

Have you gotten the seats recovered yet? do that and it'll look nice, and feeling like you're actually making progress is important, otherwise interest wanes and projects are abandoned.

I've been looking for a datsun for some years now... So I think i'll keep my interest =)
Yeas, those are chrome bumpers under the weird paint!
The seats aren't recovered yet, yhose things are for last

I had to do seats early on, mine looked worse than yours and the spare tire was propping the drivers seat up, so it was unsafe. I even had to hack in a sunny b11 seatbelt because the drivers side was broken.

If the bumpers are in good shape they'd look better chrome, over here we have to really try to get nice chrome bumpers like those!

Really? here chromed bumpers are normal.
