I'd be almost sure it would be a direct fit. You'd be better off if you could get the gearbox and tailshaft. Not having seen the 5 speed in the Bakkie, it's hard to know what length tailshaft it uses. The Ute and the 4 Door sedan have the same length tailshaft. I know that because a CA18 1200 Ute used my CA18 tailshaft from my 4 door sedan. I would expect that the worst case scenario would be that you'd have to make the gearbox mounts and get the tailshaft shortened. But the tailshaft could be similar. carry around a tape measure and crawl under a parked bakkie and find out for us.

Make sure the owner doesn't come back to his car and drive over you.

Howzit Korgat

The 5spd and 4spd is inter-changeable
Look in the back of a CAR (S.A.) magazine at all the jap import ads (boston japtech, etc) and start phoning around, you should get a good one for about R2800-00, they will even deliver to Cape Town!

Cheers Bones (EL)

I got the price using the current exchange ratei got off another website, so the price might be different. U should ask bones, he probaly knows more about this than I do,He might be able to help u sooner!
Won't importing it make it more expensive than u're local units?

The number for Boston Japtech in Johburg is (+2711) 815-2824

Ja Kortgat, I've swopped a 4spd for a 5spd on a bakkie before which was a straight fit, freinds have swopped 4spd gx boxes with 5spd bakkie boxes and no prob either so give it a try. Looks to me like we should import these 5spds by the container load to SA and export them again to Aus!!
Talking about 5spds, just broke my box in my bakkie at drags; 3rd gear syncro is gefok, my wife wants to leave me cause I spend too much time with my bakkie! Cheers
