#1 Turbo info??? T25G
blob Posted on: 2008/5/9 7:29
I am running a dead stock ca18det in my 1200 ute
- Well not quite running yet!

I was told the other day that running a slightly larger ball bearing turbo and inter-cooler (not so much the inter-cooler) will effect the engine badly - Idle etc.
I'm only running a T25...
Was I miss-informed? Do most people who's specs I've seen run an after market ECU?
Is anyone running a similar set up?

Wanted to keep standard stuff until after engineers and rego etc...

there no reason why it would run badly just because you put a slightly bigger ball bearing turbo, i don't think the T25g is that much bigger, i think that its standard equipment on skylines, it should be fine. just make sure that the input oil line is the one that runs on the ball bearing turbo because they are different to the journal bearnings.

how much boost will you run?
i put a much larger turbo on my ca without changing a thing and it ran fine. the problem you get is from the airflow meter reading too high and fuel cutting...if you run no more then 10 or 11 psi you won't notice any problems with the engine in any way.

btw if you find a company sell boost cut defenders or you are electronically able you can interupt the airflow meter readings and over ride such things...just make sure you put in enough fuel..

That's what I thought...

I had a VL Turbo with a high flowed turbo, cooler and an extra few pounds with the standard ECU and there were no probs at all.

That IS the response I was after.

Didn't wan't to keep it dead stock!

Why don't you do all the other mods before you get them engineered, otherwise what's the point of having an engineers if all the stuff on your car is different than what is on your engineer's certificate?

hey, crzy_1200_ute

Is that with no other engine mods at all?
especially ECU?

and...

Lachie,
Good point... I will have to get in touch with an engineer first to see what is okay.
Might start another thread on engineers.
