thanks Fandatstick its looks like it could be it im going to go out and do a comparison. i did say this engine was supose to be a gx1200 but im starting to wonder, the hitachis are square top as well and after reading wiki thats not gx1200? i wonder if the head with heart shape chambers and same double valve springs as gx1200 is actually off something else? with this crank as well that makes this engine what?-ta

To clarify my GX120Y engines are the twin carb/large oval port/double valve spring heads (although I no longer have the carbs/manifolds).

I'm wondering if maybe yours is the earlier 1200 GX and that maybe they had this crank?

i should clarify as well this engine is a later
engine (middle dizzy) so if it is a gx then
it is a b210 gx, it is definatlley not a an a14.
so it has-gx style closed chamber head
-with the double springs
-flat top hitachis
-twin outlet exhaust manifold
-this lighten crank i speak of
it was given to me ages ago so i have no idea of its origin. anyone else got a clue??

it has standard stroke because we built
it with standard pistons, rods etc. also
the race head has had 255 thou off
with only small reliefs in the pistons
and the cam has 515 thou lift and
nothing crashed.

i'm fairly sure it's the same as the one
in the early link "crank link" bbecause it
is 1.5kg lighter than standard weight.
or maybe iv'e just been thrown off by
the head and carbies?
