hey guys have a 1000 ute with an E15et in it. my only concern is that the dizzy and turbo inlet poke through the firewall. the dizzy im going to make a blot-on plate to cover it but the inlet for the turbo comes inside the car which is joined to the AFM. will they alow this or will my car not reach drag standards.

Is your intake inside the car? If it is and your engine backfires, you could conceivabley get burned.
The passenger cabin has to protect the occupants from oil and fuel. It your cockpit isn't sealed from the engine bay you could get splashed with hot oil.

i think they call it a 'firewall' for a reason.

in my experience they only ever visually inspect the car for around 15 seconds and i assume they make a decision based on the overall appearance of the car.

only thing ive ever seen them physically check is that the battery is clamped down, and that you have a means for collecting coolant overflow so it doesnt dump on the track.

maybe you could give a more detailed explanation of your setup, becuause as you describe it, it doesnt sound safe.. whether it passes scruitineering or not

I don't think they'd let you compete if there are any obvious holes in the firewall, that's usually one of the first things scrutineers look at.

they were a bit iffy on the old clutch cable hole in my brothers corolla when he went to the drags and that was the size of a 20c piece at the most

so i would say that wouldnt be happy with a decent size hole

For what my experiance is worth...I would send you home.
Make yourself some nice covers out of flat alloy sheet 2mm should be enough, rivet it together and screw or zeuss fasten to the firewall. No special skills are required just take your time and think the folds thru before you cut anything.

they look at everything when they scrutineering, it's for saftey, obviously. I also got looked at and told to block the clutch cable hole and the heaterhose hole in the firewall in my old coupe, I just gapher taped them up so i could pass scruiteering, i think it'll take more than that in your case!

Which drag strip are you looking at running at? WSID? WILLOWBANK?regulations differ from track to track, have a look at their web sites and see if you can find somthing about the scrutineering, otherwise berts idea is probably the best it you want to run in an event,

Have you got any pics of your ute? i'm sure i'm not the only one who want to have a look!!!Post some pics!
