A friend of mine just bought a 1200 coupe over here, and was wondering if the 510 engine cross member will fit. got it cheap, but bought it missing alot of parts the old owner scavenged off it.

Since he can't find a 1200 cross member anywhere, and 510's are pretty available, he's wondering if it would fit.

Thanks I tried the search and wiki and couldn't find anything

510 crossmember does not fit a B110. For one thing it is wider. The only bolt-in is from B110.

Blah, i'll have to tell him the bad news.

But out of curiosity, what about the B120 ute? wil lthe 510 cross member fit? Been eying importing one from japan. still up in the air about an engine. and been thinking about a rotary (i know i know, i still love the power to weight ratio out of those powder kegs) along with a few other conventional ideas

Nah, B120 is a variation of B110.

510 is a totally different car family altogether, a larger chassis in every way.

Can't hurt to try line it up see what has to be done, its only metal.

Someone has mentioned using a 510(68-73) crossmember in their coupe with an L16, you would need to use the lower arms/balljoints as they bolt up differently.

Here in USA, I estimate it will cost you $4000 minimum. That's $2000 for a daily driver type and $2000 for shipping from Costa Rica, Australia or Japan.

Give G-Speed a call. I'm guessing minimum will be $4000 (they are selling GTIR for about that) and on up depending on how nice the Sunny Truck is.

I recommend you get a 1982 or older so there are no importing problems. 1982 and older models are exempt from any USA-specific regulations (crash test and emissions).

Jose had his Sunny Truck on Craiglist for $6500, that's in LA so there's another possibility.

Try a maddat fitting kit or contact him he might have what you need as he goes through crossmembers like meals for 1200s. much cheaer to save your classic. $450au for ca18de kit if you didnt want to go L series or A series.

I've got an inquiry into a few importing places up here in Canada, just waiting on some positive responses. Also asked a few friends in the importing business to keep an eye out for me, as they'd be a bit cheaper.

Definitely looking into the 82 and older, but really up here, anything 15yrs or older is fair game to import. (just have to do all the D.O.T certification "updates" to lights and tires and such when the vehicle gets here) I know it's 25yrs and older in the states, since Canada's trying to pass legislation to make it 25yrs as well.

D, I passed that info along to my friend. Thanks for it, totally missed it on their site. I may just convince him to "upgrade" that little coupe of his finally! Although why i'm not messing with my little B210 is fuel mileage! I beat anything on the road here today (besides hybrids) and i love it, so i'm guessing thats his reason as well

If your buddy doesn't want to upgrade and can't find a stock cross member I have one in the garage.

For racing keeping the A series makes sense because it fits so many classes but for street unless the car is totally straight then might as well put in an L series or CA.

Off Topic over the 4th I'll be down in Glendale AZ.......wonder if the Gold ute is around?
