Agreed 1200RC.
My old B10 sedan with big bore 1200 GX & 5 speed was never going to be a tyre smoker, but it provided excitement every time I drove it & I did that for something like 15 years. A soggy spud it was not.
It was so good in fact that I kept it & still have its mortal remains today, 28 years down the track & the memory of the excitement it provided is propelling me on with its replacement, my current KB10GL.
'Performance' is a word that encompases much more than merely going fast. It also includes efficiency, longevity, flexibility, liveliness, ease of driving, reliability, smog compliance & even fuel economy.
Factory EFI can help fulfill many of these parameters in a street engine, like the one I will be building, as it was designed by those staggeringly clever Datsun engineers, so for me, it's not about 'total performance' but it's about 'balanced performance' combined with asthetics, rarity, & the desire to utilise perfectly good, but often overlooked & under-rated factory componentry whenever the factory made something that was right for the job.
My KB10GL will be a street car, not a race car & geting a street car to perform with excellence in all of the varied environments that the big wide world is made of is much more difficult than just going fast. Moderation is always the key.
You want to drive fast & that's OK by me, but I want to drive well, now that's performance with a capital 'P.'
