What i find so stupid is that people don't realise Troy ISN'T at fault.
It was a charity event. he was Asked to attend the event, and it his scheduled "performance" was not set up in a controlled environment, which makes the event organisers, the sponsers, and also the police that were there to control the crowd that are liable for the damage, not Troy.
Everyone knows the risks that are involved in a drag car and the risks involved doing burnouts, so there is no forseeable way that Troy could have controlled what happened that tragic day.
It's not like he went out and got into the corvette thinking.."Right i am gonna crash this beast and kill a few people and injure a bunch of them too" .... that just didnt happen. he was doing exqctly what he was asked/told to do and unfortunately the car careened out of control.
Also when i first read the story and saw it on the news, on 60mins, The people that were killed and injured were actually sttanding in an area they WERE NOT meant to be standing, so they put their lives in their own hands standing in an unportected area and also the officials should have removed them from the area as the Policve were also meant to do but no0one removed them from the area.
I honestly think this is just a load of bullshit that Troy and his family are going through all this pain and suffering for the victims' own stupidity.
Yea i feel bad for the families of those that died as its sad that they lost loved ones BUT in saying so those that died have no pity from me as they put themselves in a dangerous situation from the beginning, and the injured, well its the same deal they put themselves there where they shouldnt have been.

It was his judgement alone that determined the level of control that the vehicle had.
I saw the video, and redlining a 1000-2000hp car with people standing a few feet away is insane. The 'I was just doing my job' excuse didn't work for the nazi henchman either.
If he went to jail under breach of contract for refusing to perform such a stunt in public, I'd support that.
I agree the organisers are also responsible, but our buddy the driver has a level of responsibility also.
You can't blame the victims...they're dead.

The people killed would not have been as well informed of the dangers as much as Critchley did...He was the pro driver and as a pro he is well aware of the potential hazards his display faced. What he did was idiotic and he showed poor judgement. I understand he was trying to help raise money but jeezus what he did was madness. To beat the lawsuits he declared bankruptsy months ago. As has already been said he never went out there to hurt anyone, but as a direct result of his actions 6 people were killed, he is responsible.........

I think regardless of his liability it is fair to say he's probably suffered enough....living with that knowledge must really suck.

stirling you n i could argue til we are both blue in the face since we both disagree with each..let us agree to disagree over the matter....
that said, if the people did not place themselves in the area in which they should not have been standing, and the officials and police and security had been paying attention and removed those people from the area in which they were in those lives could have been spared.
the Officials and sponsers knew of the risks that come with drag racing, otherwise wouldnt have asked him to be a part, and therefore failed to provided the basics in safety and making sure these people were not in the area in which they were when they lost their lives .
The organisers and officials are to blame. that is my opinion you are all welcome to your opinions and i stand firm with mine. I am not saying yours are wrong, i am just strongly disagreeing with your opinion.
I am not opinionated , i'm just always right...as the saying goes........that is me to a T!!

As someone with a drag racing back ground , has drag racing co workers who build drag racing cars.....and drag racing friends, we can't understand why Troy had to do a full noise rolling burnout on a cambered street with minimal barriers and limited crowd control. He put his foot up it and lost control. it was a direct result of his actions that killed people...Other factors can be blamed but are excuses. If the blower had lifted or the trans exploded or a thousand other things he is still ultimately responsible...
