Depends on the state..depends on the year model of youyr car.

Sometimes no, it's not required. But I'd recommend fitting it anyway. Get a 3 inch one..no restriction there, and it sorta works like a resonator, so the car will sound better.

You can get them for $180..and when cops pull you over, you can point at it and say it's got a cat convertor. That's the limit of most police officers knowledge on pollution gear.

But it is a bit expensive. The rules on whether or not the Cat Convertor is required for rego is unclear in NSW, I'd run one to avoid trouble.

Its a 1980 ute in NSW. It sounds great with the existing system and its hard to fit a cat with the system layout.

If you must just hollow one. CA's sound so incredibly sexy without them and hollowing one is basically the same... this way you have the look of legality and the sound of sex.

You guys have emissions testing as well? If so this may not be wise... on my 180SX i just had a straight pipe that replaced the cat until it was time for the test.
