Good one Jon I know we all have our favorite engines. I have nothing against SR's I know of quite a few puting out good numbers.

All engines have there weeknesses The problem we found when we rebuilt my ca18 is that the block wasnt dead flat from the factory!! it had a low spot on the front cylinder turbo side. Since it was decked have not had any sealing problems even with 20+psi
My personal engine favorite would have to be the RB26 one of these worked off its tits in a Zcar would be sweet. LETS FACE IT if its NISSAN or DATSUN its good

i have a ca in a datsun ute i did all the work but the wireing of a EMS com i have a stock moter and turbo it is runing a diul boost stock at 10 psi hi is 15 psi a mr inforcer intercooler and sum littel trick that i do not even no what is dun but it must work becuse it has 230 hp at the wheels and in a 1200 ute on the street it is a lot of fun and in the wet it is more then fun because like demojob sead all cars have 500 hp power in the wet the ute has 750 hp

i dont know if im right but ive worked out that the biggest (legal) engine i can have in my ute is a 1632cc.can someone tell me for sure how the new laws work in nsw, coz i wouldnt mind getting a ca or something but i wouldnt want to do it then find out later its illegal.also how does the law wok with turbos/forced induction???????

hey kegs im pretty sure the rule under which I got my 1200 complianced was the standard weight of the vehicle x a certain number (just cant remeber what it is) the thing I found out is that in qld a 1.8 litre turbo is the max engine displacement allowed. All I know for sure is that iv got a 1974 datsun 1200 ute with a ca18det in my shed all complied, legal and reg'd. if that isn't enough proof that it's able to be done simply and legally i don't know what is

The only way to know for sure is to talk to an engineer in your state.
Whether something is legal or not will change between engineers...

This is what I have heard. I wouldn't really know for sure...
