that micra is certainly pretty sweet, I would assume though that IPRA wouldn't allow you to move the engine to the back seat! Still would be a very cool race car none the less.
There is an outfit here in christchurch that has built an 80's justy with wide flares etc along the same lines as the micra there and it has a turbo impreza motor in the back seat and funny enough it absolutely flies! I'll see if I can dig up some pictures of it

On further thought now I remember why the sub conversion is useless. The motors are as heavy as cast iron 4 cylinders and dont perform as well in NA. So forget that.

The suzuki capuccino with 2ltr would rock but back to nissan the option of mid mounting motors is allowed in U2ltrSS class.

I think an sr20ve with the fwd qr25de 6 speed gearbox would be cool. The 6 speed box uses a cable shifter so is begging to be used mid mounted, You can also get factory helical LSD

I believe a k11 is lighter once depleted of it innards and extra junk and also more aerodynamic. The k10 is quite ugly and boxy and prefer a Sunny or 120y instead.

A qr20de 147hp stock would be plenty using
billet cams 40-50hp extra
better springs to go with cams
Jim Wolfe balancer removal kit 10hp
Extrude honed inlet, proper exhaust etc frees another 15-20hp
The QR20de has 1.9 rod stroke ratio!!! its made for NA tuning.

152.9 mm rods VS 136.3 mm for SR20de

147hp + 40hp cams + 10hp JW kit + 20hp exhaust, also removing the power steering, air con and replacing the flywheel with a lightweight version and better clutch would definitely free up another 15hp so the 220-230 mark is possible.

Beyond that dry sump lubrication, slight porting of the head, 10.8 compression pistons and better rods or working the stock rods, maybe electric water pump , total blue printing and re-balancing could account for another 15-20hp. Im betting some aggressive cams to help make that 1.9 r/s ratio come to life at 85000rpm and also aftermarket T type cylinder liners to close the open deck.

I know the qr20 has way more potential for rev's, but its harder to find parts, If you spent the money it would certainly perform well, the jwt cams for the qr are pretty damn mild though so would take a bit of investment to get some decent cams made.
The sr20ve is 187hp stock, it is basically a sr20de with a better flowing head and vtec (VVL) It has alot more choice for cams with two NZ companies doing multiple profiles for them,
I know it has a pretty poor rod stroke ratio but the US boys are still getting close to 210-220 hp at the wheels!
I would love to see a proper built qr20 anyday though, its lighter and the sound it would make as it wound out to 9500 rpm would be just beuatiful.

1000AUD for billet cams is no big deal I would never suggest the jwt cams they are for owners with emissions to worry about.

Either way would be nice to see a Micra k11 with either of the mentioned setups.

Hi D, what do you think about the new Toyota 3ZR engine? Light as an A14 with 155 hp (116 kW).
