motor running on?

hey fellas with me ute it runs on when i go to turn it of but it mainly does it when its warmed up could it be that its running to lean or could it be something to do with the wiring?

its usually that you have too much fuel and pre ignites after you turn it off
so its too rich

Check your timing,it may be advanced too much.
Does it have a standard carby?

Yes, all good reasons. Number one cause: Idle speed too high.

This 'running on', continuing to "run on", where the engine "diesels" (won't stop running) after the ignition is turned off. It runs at a slower, irregular speed.

It was such a problem with North American emission control models because of required higher idle speed, that 1973 models compensate for this by fitting the anti-diesel valve (fuel cut-off valve).

nah i know that the timing is right it isnt advanced or anything and yea it has a stock carby

Standard carby has an anti diesleling solenoid on it,it may be playing up or stuck.Disconnect the wire to it should be a single black for memory and see what happens,you could also un screw it and check,dont loose the needle and spring.

yep ok then i'll have to have a look at it tomorrow cause my battery is flat when i have a look tomorrow ill say if it works or not. thanx for the help
