I'm new to the forums and i'm new to cars, I've driven for a while but this is my first time trying to modify one.

I have a 1978 Cherry F10 with the A14 engine and this is the only site that i've seen so far that I could probably get some help from.

I want to make this car faster, what are some parts that I can get, I am on a tight budget also. What about lowering my car, where could I get the proper springs and shocks?

If anyone has an abundance of knowledge on this car, even if not about performance, I'd appreciate some help

What condition is the engine and car in? is it no-modified? if so the first things to do would be new air filter (on of those high flow jobs) bigger exhaust (not huge) to make it breath better. can you get hold of a bigger carb? if so do so. make sure youve got good spark plugs and a good coil and good oil. should be sweet as.

Engine is stock and has over 100k on it, the previous owner said they tuned it up before they turned it over to me but they didnt clean it at all, where would I get better exhaust or a better carb?

Is it alright if I remove the stock carb so I can clean things that I cant reach? would it mess something up..

Also some of the bolts that came stock have stripped! how can I get them out, some are in tight places..

Welcome! There's a few Texans on this forum who I'm sure can lend you an ear. As far as proper lowering springs and shocks, you'll have to experiment with items from another car, at least here in the U.S. where no aftermarket items exist. Although Addco does list swaybars. To improve engine performance on a budget, you'll need to do the typical bolt on upgrades, and you'll find tons of info in the archives, so just do a search. You didn't ask, but a place called Showcars Bodyparts Unlimited! carries a front spoiler for your model.

Hey bud, your F10 has the same engine we all have, and like, so this is the place for you, at least enginewise, because I do not think there are F10 clubs yet, your engine is a very reliable and efficient one, just give it a tune up to make sure it is oK and safe. Get spark plugs, spark cables, distributor cap and rotor, air filter(if changing your carburator, do not change the air filter, just wait), gas filter, change the oil and oil filter, flush your radiator, check the belts and radiator hoses for their condition, get a Weber 32/36 carburetor(in US, a good source is www.piercemanifolds.com)it will add life to your car,add headers(not sure if 1200/B210 would fit your engine position, that is something we got to find out), but you can go ahead with a weber 32/36 carburetor, no need to wait for the headers(it comes with its own Weber air filter), check the valve adjustment and check at the same time the head bolts torque VERY IMPORTANT, more than one used car owner has messed up a day on a blown head gasket in a car that has never been re-torqued, it is like a waiting time bomb, check that out. Finally timming (with timming light gun). It seems long, but it is easy, if not inclined mechanically, at least you know what you need to check, go to a good, known mechanic(not the "waiting behind the bushes kind of rat") and tell him you would like to do this, you can buy all the parts, he should be able to do it easy, this engines are easy, no computers or crazy stuff, and , if you can do it, better, it is always a good feeling to do all this and feel you did a good job, a purring engine, that is what it is all about, well maintained it is indistructible.
Good luck bud.
Watch out for that crazo weather over there in Texas , this time of the year is weird, hurricanes, over there, good day!

Jaime.

I think your F10 is rarer than 1200's in the US. There happens to be one @ the local wreckers right now, so check your ride out and if you need some parts, I'll pull them for you. The F10 is FWD w/ engine front on right hand side, a very busy engine compartment. Sort of a smaller 310. Any one know what I can grab off a 710, 610 & 310? Are those FWD A series engines different ,as in trans bolt pattern?
