Hi there my brother in law played with datsuns for many years and after i bought my 1200 sedan yesterday he gave me a shoping list a14 sub with the a12 flywheel gx head 40 sides and some or other vw bus push rods (made to fit) with a 276 cam it wil rev 8 with eazy. He had a few of the runnig his last one did 380 thousend km before he had to redo the motor. So check those valve springs

Looks to me that I need to find a new set of GX valve springs or some replacement springs.

I fear the cart is being put before the horse here,it's not about what RPM the thing will pull,it's about at what RPM the engine makes it's peak power, and this is dictated by a host of other mods required and how big your wallet is.

it is highly governed by your camshaft also.. if your cam only makes power to 6000 RPM then ide say, anything over 6500 at the maximum is a waste of fuel.. you would need some serious lift to make power to 10,000 rpm..

I would check the valve springs.
There are a couple of guys on this site that use GX valve springs and run 8000rpm.

Just remember. Your cam must be able to give power at these rpm's. It is no use going there if you don't make power there. Also, your engine will need balancing to be reliable at these revs.

and a cam that makes power to 10,000 rpm prolly wont be drivable on the street,, would have the choppiest idol and would need some revs to get going..
