Quote: dattodude wrote: Utes are only good "out in the country", where they can be used to advantage at the B&S parties.. This is one of the Aussie things that us City boys miss out on, and don't understand. For people who don't know what they are, they are basically a huge outdoor party for 16-25 year olds, with plenty of Utes with stickers.. and plenty of girlies wanting to get "personal" in the back of the lucky fella's Ute.
The day after the party, it looks like all of the young people in town have just returned from war..
It's a bit like Spring break..but without the cameras for the DVD productions...
Chris
Ok...let me correct a few things here. ####ty old slow aggy utes are good for B&S balls. If anyone uses a datto ute for a B&S, I'll cut their balls off!!! And city boys, you ain't missing out on much!! And the girlies....well, they aren't very classy girls. More like glorified bush pigs!! And a lucky fella's ute...try about 10 unlucky fella's utes throughout the evening. Its not a bit like spring break, sorry!!!

Ive got to agree with Madtimo on this one...I went to a B&S at Hawkesbury Ag College and was told it was formal attire. So I wore my grandfathers formal suit...it was an heirloom and in exquisite condition. Halfway through the night these idiots with food coloring were spraying it around and consequently got me....and ruined the suit So that started it.....I got pissed off and went for him...I havent seen the suit since.
And whats with all the girls...formal dresses and Baxters or Dunlop Work Boots???
I gave it a second chance and went to one in Cowra but still wasnt impressed. Didnt get in a fight in that one though.

From what i can remenber, the factory spec,s for the sss were that thay had a set of 5, 12 inch trident mags with 175 70 12 tyres and datsun center caps, black bonnet patchers and were also painted black around the windows at the top of the doors, sss badges on the grill, glove box door and on the rear, high backed seats, console with rev counter in it, deep racey stering wheel with datsun centre, 4 into 2 into 1 flows, mild cam, twin dellorto carbs with big metal air box/filter. Fractory options were spot lights and front and rear spoiler. I havent seen one in Chch for a long time. There is a lemon yellow and black replica getting around, it has white 14 inch minilight mags but thats the only one iv,e seen. In fact its knot that offen you see 1200s, 120ys on the road at all anymore. Jas

My 1200 is not much to look at, for now anyway. I have got a digi camera but my computer is,not usb compatible. I will pull finger and organize myself so that the rest of the boys can see my progress

Welcome to the site , I too was happy to find it. I sold my 1200 racer about 5 years ago becuase I had a very fast Sports racer , how dumb was that. The only thing that went faster than the car was money out of my wallet. So lucky for me I was able to buy the car back a year or so ago. This site got me inspired to clean the thing up it was fairly tatty. I had an ace fabricator friend install aluminium interior bits and dash. I use mine for Vinatage races as well as an upcoming Tarmac Rally. Now I would love to have a ute but they were never imported to the States.
