Alternator Wiring

F = Field
N = lamp signal

With an SL type, S corresponds to F, and L to N.
In other words, the connector for Hitachi SL with t-connector is exactly the same.

I don't think you can damage the alternator by getting the SL or FN wiring mixed up (it may blow a fuse, or just not work). However if you connect the battery backwards, some alternator will be damaged.
