Good warning. If your Datsun (or Toyota) throttle sticks, turn the key to the ACC (engine off) position. I have had Datsun accelerators stick.

It is worse when it happens on a motorbike - there was a recall on 2oo6 model R6 Yamaha's - first production bike with a wireless throttle. Stories of people riding them with the throttle sticking wide open was a bit of a scary thought! 260+kph

If this was'nt so serious it would be funny.Get a grip Toyota!
How about aussie joe cruising down the highway in his japanese safety boots, decides to kick one off as he has a warm foot...then BINGO full throttle..promptly drilling the first target!!

Not Good Enough TOYOTA!!!

This is why I own/drive 30 y/old Datsuns (also Holdens and Toyotas)

Dont get me wrong I think technology is great, but when you no longer have direct control over your engine/driveline/brakes this sort of thing is bound to happen.

Give me a throttle cable and and brakes you actually have to think about when applying anyday

Although before vacuum advance dizzys timing was controlled from inside the cabin by a lever so I guess its all a matter of perspective.

Not good.

I think I was not even a thought in the days of manually adjusting timing in the cabin.

Friend bought a late 2005 hilux in a mild front end collision cheap
at the auctions, by the end it cost more than buying a good second
hand one. The airbags were the most expensive items.
Sometimes too much technology is not what we want.

Im not familiar with the aussie joe story any links?
