Hey Guys,

I thought I would ask you guys how you would build up these 2 motors in an ideal world. What and how would you spend your hard earned wedge?

The motors would be for street and occasional strip/track use, so have to be reasonably tractable, reliable and real good fun to drive. I know a whole heap of you are going to automatically say turbo and efi, but what about the na junkies out there? My guess is everyone is going to have a different idea of what it takes to build an ultimate street a12 & a14.

Looking forward to your specs!!!

You can get A13 parts a lot of places, some are for sale right now on this site.

I would use 9.0:1 compression ratio so that it will run good on regular fuel.

If you could actually get one I'd run and AY12 head on the A12GX bottom end with EFI hooked to a 5 speed box with and overdrive 5th and a 4.11 LSD diff.

EFI because you could run up to the mountains or down to the beach without having to rejett, the overdrive because who wants to drive 2 hours listening to the motor at 4500 RPM's, the 4.11 rear gear would do nicely for track work and around town......any lower would be to much.

As for stuff we can actually get: A12GX (w/5 speed OD) mildly ported, bigger valves and EFI.

High compression, big cam, big valves and 40mm Webers.

So your dollars are going into the top half of the motor? No forged pistons, or balanced bottom ends, lightened flywheels.......sidedraught wouldnt youwant more than high comp, valves and 40s on a wicked street car?

What you need to do is use the A14 motor with the A12 crank. Have some 136mm rods made. This will give a longer stroke. Have the block to accomidate 76.8 pistons. Then use the GX head.

Dodgeman has that motor already, A14 crank and pistons in A12 block with Twin GX carburetors.

The bottom end needs nothing unless you want flattops. It's already a tough engine for street use.

I think switzer means the A14 crank in the A12... why make rods when you can use the stock A12 ones with a little machining.

I'd like an A10 with A14/15 pistons machined flat to sit within the deck-line, machine-lighten the flywheel and lighten the crank. Oval port head and N/A EFI with some nice big trumpets.
