hmm its seems that what i first thought is the go.
Its either a falcon or commodore.
and It was considering the VY as well. Not much of a fan of the BA/BF, fine really, but I wouldnt live it down from the ford fanatics that i know!
Any more suggestions folks?

stop with the temptations Mike. You are like that little devil that sits on your shoulder, telling you to do that fun stuff, not the "right" stuff.
She is paraniod about car safety now, so airbags are a must, and i dont think that ballons will make her happy:)
We were giong to buy her parents forrester, but her brother wrote it off last week, so thats not an option anymore. But forresters in general are. You donht get as much car for your buck as you do a dunnydore, but thats cause they are better built cars.
Once the shed is up mike, all bets are off. In fact, i reckon the wags would be very warm up at my place. You could just use my place to store cause I have another smaller shed to put up after this one is done that will be just for vehicles (20mx7m)like the yellow peril, the pootrol, parts cars etc...

Well it looks like we are looking at dunnydores to start with. The cook and I are going to have a look tommrrow after uni so she can see whats about for what dollars.
I am also considering the auctions since dunnydores are so common they turn up all the time. Anyone suggest which auction houses are good for dunnydores? Its worth having a look.

anything ex gov would be good due to the cars always being serviced, but as bag for ya buck the commonwhore is the best idea, pretty good for a wags as well. But i still vote for a thou wags, just get some airbags on it.....to dump it on its ass hehehe

You will find it extremely hard to find a 3.8l commo pre vz on gas as there is not a factory gas set up for these engines. Falcons on gas are a dime a dozen.
WHATEVER YOU DO DO NOT BUY AN ADVENTRA!!! The awd on these cars is so industrial it is ridiculous and they chew up so much juice you will have to sell the house just to cover the petrol bill. They are nuggets!!! I know from experience.
I would be going with the Subaru. Yes they are a bit pricey and you SEEM to get more in a commonwhore, but there is a reason they cost more and that's because the build quality is so much better. Also the resale value on them are awesome, especially if you go the liberty wagon or outback. Instead of the car being worth 5-7 grand if your lucky in 5 years, as is the case with the commonwhore, it will be worth double that.
My 2 cents. Trav

What Wagon to buy? How about a 1200 wagon?
My wife has a Forester, but I'd go with the Outback.
