all I can say is Welcome to the 1000 world... it's got the Lot!!!

steering Play, can be expensive,
Shyte Brakes can be adjustment, and wheel cylc, the cyls are a bit expensive, and a little fiddly...

most everything else is pretty easy and durable...

1000 utes often have floor rust issues, other 1000 models don't for some reason. in towards the tunnel and around the footwell area. 1000's are the business, welcome aboard!

u can get rust around the tray especially where its meets the back of the cabin. front floor section as lagwagon said but inside and out. the roof (sides), below the tailgate, right underneith the dash on the sides (start of the pillarsu, will need a torch for that one), seal panels and behind the seats theres like a pressed join or somthing.

Most rust spots have been covered but just in case
check the rails underneath battery tray,
poor windscreen seals or leaky screen leads to
bad news in most interior frame and floor
Apart from that if the cabin is good the rest is easy
and at worst makes an easy convertible :)

Take a medium to large size flat fridge magnet and touch it against the car body at all the places where you might find rust in a Datsun. This'll help identify any bog-spots and give you a fairly good indication of how much work you're in for.

The best thing you can do before you get involved is to gauge the scope of work of rust repair.
