this is my newest project, its a B110 Datsun 1200
She's got a CA18DET fitted with a 5speed, the previous owner bought it as is, and has no idea what parts are in it. from what i can see it has a IHI Turbo fitted, no intercooler, stock injectors and ECU
It does have disk brakes in the rear and a welded diff, the diff has a 4 link with leaf springs and struts..
The body is in good condition.

I have got to fix the front end the steering ends and bushing up front are a mess..

but anyway, What Diff is this?

Most interesting. Can you post more pics of the differential setup?

updates :)

I have been working on the car on and off over the last few weeks..

I swapped out the idle arm on the steering along with all the bushings and greased up everything pretty good, I still need an alignment badly. As far as the brakes go, I have decided to do the B310 front end swap (front control arm, tension rod, spindle and shock/springs) will then swap on some P11 front disks and R32 28mm Aluminum Caliper.

I have takens some time and cleaned up the engine bay wiring loom as it was a complete mess before :P
Funny thing when you buy old cars from country people, they have the most innovative ways of doing things.. everything from the wastegate to the seat belts on this car was tied down with wire. even the fuel pump, filter and regulator :)

I have gone through and bolted down everything that I could have and removed things that were not needed.. here are some photos of whats been going on..

I removed the furl tank as it was leaking badly and as the battery is in the trunk and it was leaking in the trunk, well this was not the brightest thing to be driving around with. So i am going to clean up the tank and weld on some AN fittings.

Also still trying to figure out what kind of Diff i have in this thing, I posted some more photos, so hopefully you guys will eb able to help out..

Also the car came with a IHI turbo running 15psi, a bit much for the stock ECU tune and injectors, esp with no intercooler, so I'm going to be installing a boost controller, front mount intercooler (no cutting fitting it behind the grill) and a S13 radiator with some slim line fans.

lots of work still to do, lots of updates comin :)

Am far from a guru but that diff looks to me to be a late bluebird 910 diff H190.

mmm will be a fun diff to identify, could be pretty much any large japanese diff to date...they all look pretty much the same
if you are really keen you could pull and axle out and see if its been shortened or if the stud pattern has been redrilled

a pic of the brakes may narrow it down, or a pic of the diff pumpkin itself

was going to say hilux, but they look like stock 4 link mounts on the bottom and hilux's are leaf sprung.
the arms do kinda look like bluebird ones, with the bolt holes through them for the stock swaybar
wheels seem to sit pretty well so i'd assume its been shortened to suit the 1200

not a bad idea for tramp rods really, arms off the top of the diff would have worked better but only really fit in a sedan diagonally or if you cut channels into the floor

looks to be a good start for a project anyway

Hey thanks for the feedback

I ma going to pull the wheels off tomorrow and take some more photos and see if i can find out what it is. It's welded up right now and I would love to get a proper LSD, so i will be opening it up soon.

I plan on doing the coilover mod to the 310 struts using a Ground Control Kit with camber plates etc. and same in the back so i am planning to pull the leaf springs (thoughts on this??)

more photos tomorrow

310 struts...yuck
what brakes are you wanting to put on? use 180b, 200b, r31 struts instead of 310...they are horrible

coil rear you say, well you will obviously need to add some top arms as i didnt see any in there, looks like they just have to bottom ones to act as tramp rods

from looking at my sedan there really isnt much room in the back so you will either have to go 2/3 link with an extra bush added to the arms that are in there so that it will actually hold the diff solid

or cut channels into the floor of the car so that the control arms can be at a good angle and have a decent amount of travel

then there will be the obvious strengthening of the floor area, mount areas and such, so that it can actually withstand the forces that the suspention will put on it
