Hey Tom,

Sorry I've just put the carbs on like two days ago! I didn't have a win with the bike carbs so I threw the Mikuni's on. The manifold (oval port) hadn't even been used for that long either.

With a fresh rebuild ready to bolt onto a hot A12 or A14 I was looking for at the absolute least $1200, it's a lot I know but the setup was complete. From soft mounts to linkages, ram-tubes and socks all basically brand new.

Timing!

Wow I just read this whole thread and it answered almost all of my noob 1k questions in detailed easy steps in black, white AND colour!
Not to mention the car itself! a lot to live up to, a benchmark for Datsuns and build threads everywhere.
Thanks Chris.

Hi,

Can you describe the procedure to get those carbs so "squeaky clean"?

Thanks, nice work.

Scully, I didn't do the switch, would've had to have cut the tunnel. I'm going for a manual flick switch which will be kinda useful when you get a tailgater.

Hey danielblues! All these spammers are keeping you busy. I'm getting kinda used to it seeing as the Perth lads keep the title fairly well fortified. Can you tell the difference between them??!Haha

The secret ingredient is Lemon Juice! No seriously the cleaning compound had a distinct citrus base. I'm investing in an ultrasonic cleaner soon so that should help things along, might look into doing carb rebuilds for members.

Took the little red riding hood for a couple of spins around the block today, she's a long way off tuned but it was good to have her cruising. It's very loud at the moment, may have to look into another muffler thingio and an air-box.

Yeah it's loud as all buggery....need muffler thingio x 2.

Very close to getting the Mikuni sidedraught carbs running sweet, just need to do a little experimenting with jets. Speaking of jets, I've got a new set of Mikuni bike carbs and it turns out they share the same jets as the 40 PHH sidedraught carbs, What luck!

I have a couple of vids but they aren't worth posting as the car doesn't actually run properly (lots of spluttering when under load/when driving).

Here is a pic of the new Mikuni Bike carbs, lovin' the trumpets!

Believe it or not , I haven't even asked yet. I saw them and bought them and only decided to ask questions later! I reckon they're of a KZ1000 but they also came off a whole heap of other engines. They are the 1980-1984 type I think.

The stacks are genuine Mikuni parts, they make them even bigger! but I decided to stick with the middle sized ones.
