No not yet, I'm still stuffing around with the sidedraughts, trying to get them to run right. I have a plan in for today and I reckon I'm going to get close. The jetting, in my opinion isn't too far off. I'm just waiting till a little later to fire it up, it's very loud, and being a Saturday morning you know how it is!

If the neighbors have a party the night before and have their music blaring for most the night, I;d be out there now wringing the engine of all it's RPMs! Trust me she roars nice too!

Sorry I meant the trumpets. They are quite expensive most places Ive looked.
If the neighbour keeps you awake at night, wake them in the morning only fair.

Still no luck with the carbs, not 'smooth' luck anyway. I'm seriously thinking that it might be cam overlap that keeps causing the backfires through the carbs (ooooyeah!...sorry environment)

FOR ALL THOSE WHO WANT FREE MIKUNI PILOT JETS

I skipped uni today and went to the wreckers instead. I was eyeing off an old Chrysler Lancer and low and behold the carburettor is a Mikuni. I have a look on the side and there is a Pilot Jet exactly the same as the Pilot Jets used in the Mikuni 40 PHH carbs, turns out all the other Colts, Sigmas, and some others that I didn't take note of have the same jets.

I also found another carb (that I think was on a Holden, that uses the same Main Air Jet) _ I'll get some details tomorrow, when I find the bit of paper I scribbled it on.

So I got a handful of Pilot Jets to try out on my sidedraughts! Ranging from 55,60 & 62.5

I had, as stock pilots:

Mikuni Talk - Jetting Issues

Furthermore, if you need to go up sizes you can also get your jets re-drilled. I got them re-drilled for $10 for four. Not bad considering it's about $8.00 each for a new jet. And carb/fuel injection specialist will do this for you.

I ran the stock ones and wasn't that happy with it, then I went up to 70 and it ran pretty crappy, so I put the 60's in and that seemed to improve, I think the other jets need addressing though, not so much the Pilot Jets.

I knew about the Mitsubishi carbs for years and wished you told me
that you where after these jets. Youve found out the same way I did :)

I think the main air jets need to be around 185 as far as I remember.
There was a thread somewhere on someone with a similar setup here
from america Ill try and find it...

Speaking of drilling jets.. Does anyone know where to get a (full) set of jet drills? I know they aren't cheap being precision tools but could be worth the $$.

My old boss had a full set and I remember jetting his MKII Cortina with a set of Mikuni's off a Toyota 2TG using them. Never bought a jet, either drilled them out or soldered them up and then re-drilled to suit.
